Description
The wine Ca' Marcanda Toscana Magari is a perfect combination of the Bordeaux winemaking tradition and the solar and typically Mediterranean characteristics of the coast. This wine comes from the vineyards that are furthest from the nearby sea and closer to the fertile hillside. The clay and silt-rich soils, known as terre brune (dark brown earth), are essential to create round wines with mineral characters.
Winemaking
Magari is made from three grape varieties that ferment and macerate separately for approximately 15 days. These varieties are Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Cabernet Franc (25%). After 12 months of oak ageing, the wines are blended and then aged for several months in bottle before release.
Taste
Magari is characterised by its intense and bright colour. On the nose, notes of eucalyptus, pepper and pine can be appreciated. Fine-grained tannins envelop an elegant core of black cherry, blackberry and liquorice flavours, with fresh nuances that glide through a long, expressive finish. The harmony between vibrant acidity and refined tannins promises excellent ageing potential.
