Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Quinta Apolonia is going to be released already as the market is moving fast, fermentations have been quick and easy and the wine was bottled a couple of weeks before I tasted it. It was a year marked by very warm temperatures in the summer and lack of rain. They started the harvest very early, in late August, and harvested for one month; it was a complex harvest, as some vineyards had to be harvested over up to five different points of time. They had to sort and discard, and yields were low and production lower than other years. The wines are a little riper and more advanced. This has a golden color and an open, expressive nose of peach and bay leaf with some rose petals too, a little exotic with notes reminiscent of Moscatel or even Gewurztraminer. It has a gentle mouthfeel with lower acidity too. There are 77,000 bottles and 2,320 magnums of this wine. It was bottled in November 2022.
