Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

De Sousa's NV Brut Tradition blends 50% Chardonnay with 40% Pinot Noir and 10% Meunier. The wine has an intense yet bright white golden color with some very light pink reflections. The bouquet is clear, fresh and intense, indicating substantial character. Pure and very delicate on the palate, this is a highly elegant and finessed cuvée, and the recent version is based on the 2014 vintage that was bottled unfiltered in early 2015 and was disgorged in November 2017 with a dosage of seven grams per liter. The finish is pure and shows delicate minerality.

Features

Description

De Sousa Brut Tradition is a champagne that represents a harmonious fusion of tradition and quality. This sparkling wine is composed of 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier, a blend that reflects the richness and diversity of the vineyards in the Champagne region. The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring the selection of the best fruit. Vinification is carried out in tanks, with thermoregulated fermentation at 18°C, which contributes to the preservation of the fresh and delicate aromas of the grapes.
De Sousa Brut Tradition is a blend of several vintages, where the Pinot Noir brings roundness, the Pinot Meunier vinosity and the Chardonnay freshness. This balance is reflected in its bright, clear colour with green highlights, and a fine, abundant mousse on serving. The aroma is fine and floral, with notes of mimosa, citrus and ripe fruit, giving it a powerful and refined expression.

Taste

On the palate, De Sousa Brut Tradition is characterised by a frank attack and a lively freshness, well balanced by a warm impression of honey. The finish is pleasant, with medium length. The flavours intertwine to create a complex and satisfying taste experience. Refreshing notes of Chardonnay are perceived, with floral and fruity hints, including citrus and ripe pears, as well as red fruits. This complexity is complemented by a good vivacity, making it ideal to accompany a variety of foods, from seafood and cheese to poultry and fish.
De Sousa Brut Tradition, with an alcohol content of 12.5%, is a champagne that can be aged for 3 to 5 years, offering an optimal tasting temperature between 8 and 10°C. Its production follows organic and biodynamic practices, reflecting the winery's commitment to sustainability and quality. With its balance of freshness and complexity, this champagne is an excellent choice for celebrating special moments or enjoying on an informal occasion.
